During February and April school vacation weeks, ABC Spanish in Motion offers an experience for children 4 to 8 years of age designed introduce children to the Spanish language and cultures, and help children with Spanish exposure improve their communication skills.

Class days are Tuesday-Friday on February 20-23 and April 17-20. Days run from 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM, with and optional extended day until 5:00 PM.

Vacation days are held at the Spanish Immersion Montessori School (SIMS), located at 991 Boylston St in Newton, MA 02461. Drop-off and pick-up is done off-street via the BACK door.

Winter Vacation – February 20-23

Spanish School Vacation Feb 20-23 School Vacation in Spanish provides an opportunity for children to begin to learn and practice Spanish in an immersive and cultural context. Children will sing, make music, play games, and crafts related to spring. They will learn about springtime in Latin America.

This course provides an experience of learning Spanish in a supportive environment that is reinforced through original music recorded by ABC Spanish in Motion for our classes.

We aim to create a positive first (or second) impression to learning Spanish and meeting elements of Spanish cultures. We use a child’s natural desire to explore and play to learn through the use of songs, rhymes, stories and games.

School Vacation Camp runs from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Tuesday – Friday during School Vacation (April 18 – 21). Parents will provide children with a peanut-free lunch, while healthy snacks will be provided by the Discovery in Motion Center. Wintertime in my Town / El Invierno en mi Ciudad

Children will learn about different wintertime activities and everyday items such as colors, shapes, clothing, manners, opposites, commands.

WEDNESDAY

Dress for Snow and Rain / Ponte Ropa para La Nieve y La Lluvia

Children will learn about wintertime clothing and fun activities or sports. The target vocabulary will be correlated with clothing and parts of the body (hands, feet, etc.).

THURSDAY

Let’s Go on Vacation! / ¡Vamos de Vacaciones!

Children will learn how seasons can be different throughout regions of the Americas and the world. We’ll learn about a variety of animals living in the Americas and the Spanish-speaking world. We’ll take a close look at fauna in Central and South America, and students become familiar with South American nations and ecosystems.

FRIDAY

Food Tasting in South America / Saboreando en Latinoamerica

Children will delight in wonderful foods and dishes from Latin America. The target vocabulary will be table and kitchen words. Children will discover new science, math, health, social skills and cultural awareness through our hands-on cooking of South American cuisine.
